PROJECT

A Digital Evolution for New Zealand’s Most Popular Gift Card
Prezzy Card is New Zealand’s original prepaid gift card, offering flexible, easy gifting for any occasion. Owned by ePay New Zealand, Prezzy Card is accepted anywhere Visa is accepted and has become a staple for individuals and businesses nationwide.

With rising demand, especially from corporate customers, Prezzy Card needed to modernise how businesses bulk ordered cards. We partnered with ePay to lead the design and development of a new self-service corporate portal, helping Prezzy Card scale its operations and deliver a faster, more streamlined experience.

Results

  • $2 million+ increase in total load value, comparing Aug '23–Mar '24 to the same period the previous year

  • Corporate portal sales forecast to reach 206,000 cards in 2025

  • The new portal has saved over 1,212 hours of manual processing for fulfilment and support teams in 2024 alone

"Next Chapter have been instrumental in restructuring and redefining the prezzy card corporate and B2B sales channel in New Zealand and are embarking on our new journey into Australia to do the same thing. The UI and order flow creation has proved to be best in market time and time again. Their flexible working partnership and the ownership and empowerment they give to your brand are world class. We could not do what we do without them. Best partners to have on our side hands down."

The Challenge

We began by working closely with internal stakeholders and real corporate users to uncover pain points in the existing process. Through a series of workshops and customer interviews, we identified several critical needs, including a simple and guided bulk ordering flow, options to customise card messages, real-time tracking and status updates, and administrative tools to manage multiple users within an organisation. By mapping user journeys, we were able to prioritise the features that would deliver the most impact early on.

Discovery

We kicked off by working closely with internal stakeholders and real corporate users to understand pain points across the current process.

Through workshops and customer interviews, we identified critical needs: A simple, guided bulk ordering flow Customisation options for card messages Real-time tracking and status updates Administrative tools to manage multiple users within an organisation Mapping user journeys helped us prioritise features that would deliver the most impact early.

Design

The design system was built around three core priorities: ease of use, flexibility, and brand alignment. We streamlined the complex ordering process into a clear, step-by-step flow that felt intuitive for both first-time and returning users. Businesses could customise messaging, choose delivery options, and place orders of any size with the same smooth experience. To maintain consistency, we extended Prezzy’s refreshed brand into the portal, using bold colours, confident typography, and a vibrant yet professional tone. Prototypes were tested with real users to refine interactions and ensure the portal delivered a seamless experience from start to finish.

Delivery

We developed the corporate portal using an iterative approach, working closely with the ePay team at every stage. Key delivery decisions focused on long-term scalability and efficiency. We built a reusable component library to support future features and enhancements, integrated payment gateways and fulfilment providers to automate the entire order flow, and optimised performance to ensure the system could handle high-volume periods without lag. Robust admin tools were also implemented to support internal teams with order management and reporting. The portal launched successfully and has become a central part of Prezzy Card’s digital growth strategy.
"The new portal is much more user friendly / easier to navigate. The layout makes more sense and it’s quicker to find what you need without having to click around too much."
